Are You Allowing Your Moods to Rule Your Life?
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
This is something that has been on my mind a lot lately. I think the reason is that every time it rains here in North Carolina it gets really gloomy. For some reason it rubs off on me, and I start to feel gloomy.
It seems to be contributing to my misery too. Why is it that when life seems to be its best we feel our worst?
Except for missing my granddaughters terribly since I have been here, God has really blessed me. I found me an apartment, and although it’s definitely not a showplace, I’m sure there are billions in the world who want to trade.
I quit smoking, something I never thought I would ever do. I didn’t gain any weight, and for the first time in my life I’ve started sticking to a fitness program. I have more energy now than I’ve ever had. It’s amazing.
And I only feel miserable when I allow my emotions to rule my life. Emotions are way too flaky to allow them to rule your life. They’re unreliable.
You think maybe this is the reason the United States is in such a mess? I’m beginning to wonder. It’s almost like people don’t even deal in reality anymore. It’s all about how they “feel.”
The best advice I can give you here is to believe what the Bible says. I read mine every day. I don’t listen to the news anymore, and I could care less what Obama has to say. He’s wrong anyway!
I believe God. It’s his universe, he controls it, and he’s been telling us for a long time not to worry; he’s in control.
Matthew 6:25-34Matthew 6:25-34
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
