Blog Comments: How to Use Them to Market Your Business
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
To be perfectly honest with you, I’m not sure why anyone would waste his/her time online posting blog comments unless he/she is doing it to market a business.
I used the internet for business, and sometimes for research if I am shopping, or I want to learn something, but if I want to meet people, I go out into the real world.
I went through a stage in my life where I lived my life online, but it got very unsatisfying very quickly. Honesty is an important element in associating with me, and if you don’t have that, and you have to fake who you are, then you’re not someone I want to or will associate with.
Now, for those of you who run an online business, blog comments are an excellent way to build backlinks to your business, as well as demonstrate your expertise.
The secret to doing this is to show clearly that you are an expert on your topic. This is the way to do it:
First, you need to actually know your material. Have something to say. There is nothing wrong with agreeing with what someone else says as long as you contribute in a meaningful way to the conversation. What I mean by this is to add something to the conversation: a tip, an insight, or something the person writing the blog post didn’t cover.
Don’t just post something like, “Great blog. I will have to come back here more often. blah blah blah, I don’t have a brain in my head………”
Those types of comments are annoying. Worse, they show that you are only trying to build backlinks, and they will get you ignored. Why waste your time?
Don’t use blasters to post comments. My blogs are set up to stop that kind of stuff. If you get nailed by the spam filters, your comment gets deleted. I hardly ever bother to read them because they are usually junk, and they’re for things I would never endorse like drugs through the mail, gambling, perversion, adult, and other junk. The kind of stuff no legitimate business person would ever sell or engage in.
Avoid name calling or being nasty. It’s OK to disagree. In fact, it’s encouraged, especially if you have valid information to back up your claims. That will make your post interesting, and it will get you noticed. Those kinds of comments can even drive traffic to your site in addition to helping you get a backlink.
Two tools I use to help me with blog comments are Comment Kahuna and Comment Sniper. These free softwares will save you a lot of time finding blogs to post to participating in the blogosphere.
Only post to blogs that allow you to leave a link. Make sure your link text is relevant to the blog and keyword rich. Put your link text where the name would be and add your link.
Don’t use links in your posts. Those get trapped by spam filters and deleted. Sign your name. It adds credibility.
