Geez, do I feel stupid! I thought I made this post, but I guess it was the Christmas post I made.

It is the beginning of a new year, and I have to tell you that I am excited. Regardless of what is going on in the world, what is going on inside of us is far more important.

The new year seems like a great time to start over, to really think about what we want, and what we need to do to get there.

If you haven’t really thought about it, now is the time to start thinking about what you really and truly want out of life. What are your goals? What are your dreams? What is God’s plan for your life?

If you don’t know the answers to these things, it’s OK. It simply means that you need to start praying. Ask God to reveal these things to you. Believe that He will answer your prayers and show you what you need to see.

Now is also a good time to let go of the hurts of the past, as well as to forgive. Someone once said that to “forgive is divine.” I really believe that. Like salvation and love, it is a gift from God. It is a way to liberate ourselves and live the abundant life Christ called us to.

Forgiveness is hard. Someone may have hurt you really bad. You may have hurt others. Forgiveness isn’t a free pass, nor does it excuse the behavior.  Forgiveness is about letting go of the hurt, putting the other person in God’s hands so God may deal with that person.

I personally am ready to move forward. We’ll be talkiing a lot about personal growth and growth as Christians this year. The secret to changing the world and making it a better place isn’t throwing trillions of dollars at it. The real secret is a change of heart. A heart for God.

Let me take the time here to wish each and everyone of you a happy, safe, and very prosperous new year.

Verse of the Day

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3, ESV)
