Back in February I watched my life fall apart. I was sinking into a deep depression, my business was falling apart, just like my life. It was so hard living with my youngest daughter and her husband I felt like I was on the verge of suicide.

Instead, I left. I couldn’t take it anymore. I left and moved from Alpharetta Georgia to Salisbury North Carolina. I got a part time job waiting tables to pay my bills while I revamped my business. I found a place to live. Nothing special, but for the first time in years I was on my own and independent of my kids.

My stress level went way down in the process, but there was a lot to grieve, a lot to make peace with, and a lot of things in my life I just needed to finally let go of. What helped me more than anything else was my faith in Jesus Christ. I know a joy, peace, and happiness I have never known before. As I embark on the second half of my life I know that the best is yet to be.

Am I where I want to be yet? No. My life, like your life, is a work in progress. I have a lot to do. What’s different now though is that a lot of the mental obstacles, the pain of life, and anything else that was holding me back is gone.

What I learned from this experience, and what I’ve seen on my blog is that there are a lot of hurting people I want to help. After living in Salisbury for awhile, I’ve discovered that there are a lot of people who claim to be Christians, but when it’s all said and done, they’re simply going to church because they’re afraid of dying and going to hell, or they want to belong, or worse, they’re doing it to fit in.

The unfortunate thing here is that they’re still probably lost, and their behavior may even be worse than an unbeliever.

Regardless, it really doesn’t matter. The greatest commandment Jesus gave us is to love God and love our neighbor AS ourselves. (Your neighbor is anyone, not just other believers.)

Let me tell you: this is some radical stuff! The reason is that when you learn to love others no matter what, you learn to understand what God is really like. It’s a major mindblower. Even better, it leads you to the freedom Christ promised when we got saved. When you start to experience that level of freedom, any power others had over you is gone. It’s so amazing, something I can’t even explain even though I’m going to try.

The point is this: more than anything I want to help others. I want to see all of you become everything God intended you to be, and I want to help you get there.

Don’t misunderstand though: I won’t lie to you. I won’t tell you something the Bible doesn’t say, and I won’t spare your feelings. Your soul is on the line. Your eternity is on the line, and I want to help you.

No matter your circumstances, you can overcome anything. It doesn’t matter who is im the White House. It doesn’t matter the color of your skin, your gender, sexual preference, race, or anything else. The only thing that can ever hold you back from getting what you want is you. Once you take responsibility for your life and your outcome, there is absolutely nothing that can stand in your way.

I welcome you to join me on this journey as I share with you what I’ve learned. God didn’t make us to be Mother Teresas. He made us to have a relationship with Him and live in paradise.

Your life, your eternity, your happiness is your choice. Only you can suffer, or enjoy, the consequences of your actions, and these things are far too important to leave to chance. Don’t leave your life to chance.

Verse of the Day

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:1-4, ESV)
