Emergent church leader says ‘gay’ can be biblical lifestyle
I can really understand the church debating points in the Bible that don’t seem clear. What I don’t understand is debating points in the Bible that are very clear.
When God gave the Israelites the Torah (the first five books of the Bible), one of the laws He included was the law on homosexuality.
It is outlined in Leviticus 18:22-23Leviticus 18:22-23

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

The argument has been made in Christianity that this is the Old Testament, and although this is historical material for Christians, the Old Testament doesn’t apply to Christians because this is God’s covenant with the Israelites.
This is true. The covenant with Christians is outlined in the New Testament. The New Testament is God’s covenant with Christians.
On the subject of homosexuality, Jesus was silent. He talked about adultery, which is important because any sexual sin outside of marriage is sexual sin. However, there would have been no need for Jesus to really discuss this as the Israelites already knew that this was a sin. They didn’t need to be reminded.
Jesus brought salvation to the Israelites or Jews. It would be Paul who brought the message of salvation to the Gentiles. Gentile culture was different. Sexual perversion abounded. Many Gentiles would not have known what the Old Testament had to say about this sin.
Paul is very clear in 1 Corinthians 6:9-101 Corinthians 6:9-10

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Now I used the King James here, so it may not be clear, but Effeminate is the term they used when this was written to refer to homosexuality.
In Romans 1:24-28Romans 1:24-28

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. more: or, rather
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; to retain: or, to acknowledge a reprobate...: or, a mind void of judgment or, an unapproving mind
WP-Bible plugin, it’s a little clearer because it shows that God allows for homosexuals to give themselves up to this sin:

There are other passages in the Bible that talk about homosexuality, and they are all clear on these points: that homosexuality is a sin, and those who refuse to turn away from it will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.
I say these things not because I hate homosexuals; I don’t. I don’t say these things to make myself feel better at their expense, to exclude them from the church, or to deny them any rights. I say these things because I will not lie about what the Bible actually says on the topic.
God holds us accountable when we twist doctrine, quote it out of context, or lie to others about what the Bible really says. It was done with slavery, and it has been done with a lot of other subjects to sell the agenda of different groups and speakers. These people are anti christs when they misquote the Bible this way and lie to others.
The Bible also says in Romans 3:23Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

That means we are all sinners, and we all need to examine our own lives and get right with God. It doesn’t mean we will get it right every time. We are imperfect creatures. We fail. We make mistakes.
I will be the first to admit that I don’t always get it right. I fail. I make mistakes. I’m not perfect, just forgiven, and as Christians we have to remember that we have received the grace of God. This is undeserved love, and we need to share that undeserved love of Christ with others.
What we don’t need to do is lie. I feel sorry for this young man. He is making a grave mistake on his stance on this topic.

See GaysAndSlaves.com for why the Biblical condemnation of homosexual practice does not apply today.

The Old Testament may not apply, but the New Testament does.
The Bible also says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
On your site you repeatedly quote the Old Testament. You need to read the New Testament on this. I cited the relevant passages, but there are others.
I made my argument. I believe it was sound. I WILL NOT LIE about this, and you’ve told one lie after another on your website.
May God have mercy on your soul for being so blind to the truth.
