For tax cheats, meltdown prompts amnesty offers

For those of you who haven’t paid your taxes, or you’re behind in your taxes, you may want to check this out. Find out if there is some type of amnesty program in the state you live in.

I personally am opposed to the current income tax system, and I believe it should be eliminated. Let me explain why.

First, of all, there are too many loopholes in the system. Find a loophole, and you can cut the amount of taxes you pay. An entire industry has been built around showing people how to get around this.

Then there’s the issue of compliance. The Federal IRS in the US spends over $250 billion a year in compliance. That’s money that would be better spent on something else. Instead, it’s being wasted to try and force people into paying their taxes.

If you think everyone pays income tax, think again. 67 million Americans don’t file a federal income tax return at all. The bottom 30 percent don’t pay any taxes at all. Although the rich in this country are criticized, the top two percent pay about 70 percent of the federal taxes.

As a Christian, I think that it is time that we made the tax system fair. God only ask for 10 percent of our income. That 10 percent is based on how much you have. The 10 percent of a rich person will be more than the 10 percent of a poor person.

The other side of this is that we all use the roads, water, sewage. The military protects all of us, not just those who pay taxes to support it.

The bottom line is that both the states and the federal government need to balance their budgets and start spending money based on what the Constitution says about providing for the general welfare. Let’s stop wasting money and using money to finance things like Planned Parenthood. Let’s provide for the essentials, like roads, defense, police, fire.

It is a travesty what we pay our fire fighters and policemen compared to what we pay these politicians who run things.

Now I know that may seem off topic. The subject is getting amnesty for your taxes. However, shouldn’t your taxes be used for what is supposed to beĀ  instead of lining the pockets of the lazy and corrupt?

Verse of the Day

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3, ESV)
