I love gays

Pat Boone really hit the nail on the head with this one. You don’t have to agree with someone to love him/her.

I also agree that all of this violence in the name of getting your way is absurd. Everyone has the right to disagree.

If agreeing with everything another person says was part of the processing of loving someone, I guess that means I don’t love my daughters because I don’t always agree with them.

The definition of tolerance has nothing to do with agreeing with another person. It’s all about respect. I respect the rights of others to be who they are. I respect the right of others to choose or not choose Jesus Christ.

The Bible is clear that each of us is responsible for answering for our own sins. We need to remember that when we’re counseling others on the right thing to do. If others reject what we say, ultimately they are simply rejecting the message we are offering. They are responsible for their own lives.

When asked what the most important commandment was, Jesus said that it was to love God and love others as ourselves. Ultimately, that’s really all that we can do.

If you object to homosexuality, you’re called a homophobe even if that’s not true. Homophobia, like anything else, is a fear of something. It’s not something anyone should fear, and I know that I certainly don’t. That would be silly.

Besides, whenever this topic, or any other topic that comes up that is something that might put us in bondage, like taxes, or socialism, or a lot of other things, it reminds me that Christ didn’t come here to put us in bondage; Christ came here to set us free. He will set us free if we allow it.

One of the most important things He sets us free from is hate. I hate no one. I really don’t see the point. It doesn’t mean I don’t disagree with others. I believe in the rule of law, and the people of California set the rule. Declaring war on those who voted for Prop 8 in California is not the way to get the law changed or to change anything.

I’m not quite as enthusiastic about Christmas as I used to be. The longer I am a Christian, the more I want every day to be a day to celebrate Christ. It’s not His birthday that’s important anyway. It’s His sacrifice on the cross. He gave His life for us. He came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

Love God. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Makes life a whole lot easier.

Don’t be afraid to stand up for what’s right. Not everything is an opinion, and Bible teaching certainly isn’t.

Oh, if you stand up for what the Bible says, and you tell the truth, you’ll get criticized or called names by someone. So what?

Jesus was criticized. In fact, He was hated so much for what He said that the Jewish leaders wanted Him dead. They succeeded, but only because Christ allowed it.

Jesus told us that as His followers, we would be persecuted. People who hate Christians hate us because we stand for the light. I’m not talking about those who go to church on Sunday because they are afraid of going to hell. I’m talking about real Christians. We will be persecuted. Christ said so.

Don’t be afraid of it. There’s nothing to be afraid of. Christ is there to guide and protect us. We have nothing to fear.

Verse of the Day

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3, ESV)
