‘If you’re going to heaven, I don’t want to be there’

If I walked up to you today and asked you, “Are you going to heaven?” What would you say?

I’ve actually asked other people that question. Usually the response I get is that the person doesn’t know. If you don’t know whether you’re going to heaven or not, you’re probably not.

I know I’m going to heaven. When I tell other people that often the response I get from others is that I’m arrogant, a liar, or something else.

There is a way to know though: 1 John 5:131 John 5:13
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

tells us. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6John 14:6
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Honestly, I really don’t understand why so many people don’t take the time to answer the most important question you will ever be asked: “Where will you spend eternity?”

This is a great video. Once again Ray Comfort exposes some of the crazy things that non believers believe. It’s really sad though. Rather than question her beliefs though, this woman accuses Ray, and Christians, of judging her.

My question to her is as follows: Why should you care what anyone thinks? I’ve learned from personal experience that those who usually get hostile like that know deep down inside that they’re doing wrong or they feel guilty about something.

The dictionary defines judgement as follows:

1. an act or instance of judging.

2. the ability to judge, make a decision, or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, esp. in matters affecting action; good sense; discretion: a man of sound judgment.

3. the demonstration or exercise of such ability or capacity: The major was decorated for the judgment he showed under fire.

4. the forming of an opinion, estimate, notion, or conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind: Our judgment as to the cause of his failure must rest on the evidence.

5. the opinion formed: He regretted his hasty judgment.

6. Law.
a. a judicial decision given by a judge or court.
b. the obligation, esp. a debt, arising from a judicial decision.
c. the certificate embodying such a decision and issued against the obligor, esp. a debtor.

7. a misfortune regarded as inflicted by divine sentence, as for sin.

8. (usually initial capital letter) Also called Last Judgment, Final Judgment. the final trial of all people, both the living and dead, at the end of the world.

Gee, sounds like we all judge. If we didn’t, we couldn’t make decisions, or at least good ones.

Think I’ll spend a little more time from now on exercising my judgement. Maybe then I won’t make so many mistakes.

Verse of the Day

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12, ESV)
