So Are Any of You From North Carolina?

I recently moved to North Carolina. In fact, I moved to Salisbury. It’s about 30 or 40 minutes north of Charlotte up I-85.

I have to say that I really like it here.  I came up here back in October to help my daughter and her husband move into their new house. I fell in love with it then but couldn’t move because I was helping one of my other daughters by taking care of her kids while she and her husband worked. (They live in Alpharetta, outside of Atlanta).

I had planned to move here in April because I was tired of living in Georgia. I love Georgia, but right now I had rather be a million miles away from my youngest daughter and her husband.

Living with them has been hell because they both have baggage they need to get over. They both made a mistake having kids so early because they are finding out that it is actually work to have kids. It’s not something you do until you want to. Otherwise, I really think this is what causes many to abandon their kids.

Anyway, now that I am gone, my daughter and her husband have to watch the kids all of the time unless they get a sitter. No more free day care. Eventually I am sure they will wake up and realize just how good they had it.

Lesson learned for me at least that you need to be very careful about who you help. Some people either don’t want your help, or in this case, they want me to do for them what they need to do for themselves. Not only have they taken advantage of me, but they treated me badly in the process.

It’s one of the major reasons I left. I have to say that I miss my granddaughters. They are adorable, and it’s so much fun being with them now because they are little. Little kids are a lot of fun.

It’s about trade offs, and now that all three of my daughters are grown, it’s time for me to have some fun.

So, for those of you who live here, any recommendations?

Verse of the Day

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3, ESV)
