So Obvious, and Yet Most People Don’t Do It

One of the best things I ever did was read Robert Ringer’s book on Getting What You Want. The reason is that it really cleared out a lot of the wrong thinking that I had. When you clear the clutter out of your thinking, it makes way for you to do what you really want to do, and you’re also not hampered by what other people say or think.

The premise of this books should be obvious. For most people I don’t think it is, and I really believe that the first step to having what you want is knowing what you really want. Most never get past this first step, and even it requires action because you have to make a decision.

The reason I read this book is because I was looking for motivation, something to jump start my life because I felt like I had stalled. Some of the information on this book sounded very similar to his other book I mentioned previously. However, there is also a lot of new material I hadn’t encountered, and I found it very helpful because it helped me to further clarify my thinking.

Usually when I read this type of book, I read Christian authors. Since my faith is very important to me, I want to make sure I understand these issues in light of my faith so I make according to my faith. Ringer expresses something far more important: universal human truth. (These are things that are true regardless of your circumstances or what you believe.)

This book did for me what I needed it to do: motivate me to take action on my current situation and then keep going. I feel better now than I ever have. I’m out of the rut that I was in, and I’ve escaped a part time job I hated that I was doing while I rebuilt my business. I’m focused now on my goals, and things are finally, and quickly, getting done. All of my obstacles are gone.

If you’re stuck in a rut, then you may want to read this book. It may just do the trick for you, get you unstuck, and help you take the action you need to take to live the life you really want.

The 7 Principles of Rational Living

Do you ever feel like you’re being lied to? I feel that way most of the time. I don’t watch the news anymore for this reason.

There’s an old expression in Journalism that says, “If it leads, it’s bleeds.” I feel that the more I watch the news, the more negative I become, but it’s not just the news that does this to me, it’s also being surrounded by negative people.

What’s unfortunate is that I think most of us just aren’t strong enough to resist the negativity in our lives, especially the negativity that comes from other people. If you’re not, then you really want to read this book, “Getting What You Want: The 7 Principles of Rational Living,” by Robert J. Ringer.

In this book, Ringer outlines seven different principles that he believes you have to live by in order to not only get what you want out of life but to find happiness too. These principles are:

1. Base your actions on truth
2. Focus on value, not entitlements
3. Make choices with civility, dignity, honesty, and humility
4. Avoid those who drain your personal resources
5. Rid yourself of major encumbrances
6. Develop the self-discipline to act on intellect, not impulse
7. Learn from bad breaks and move on

Some people will find this book to be offensive. After all, it’s about recognizing where you are deluding yourself in your life, owning up to what you are doing, then taking steps to change. The value is that if you do that, you’ll eliminate the obstacles holding you back in your life. Once you eliminate those obstacles, you’ll be able to press forward and achieve what you really want.

One of the most important principles I learned from this book, or at least it was reinforced by this book, is that you can’t change the world. In order to change the world, you have to change other people, or at least most people think you have to change other people.

If you’re one of these people who thinks that you need to change the world in order to be happy or have a purpose, then take control of what you can and change yourself. All of us have the ability to improve, and all of us need to improve.

Regardless of what you are looking for in life, this book will help you achieve it. Not only does it tell you what you need to be doing, it tells you how to do it, and why you should be doing it in the first place.

I’ve read plenty of self help books. I am always working myself because I believe that we are always works in progress. What this book helped me finally do was shed the burdens of the past and not feel guilty for being happy and wanting to live my dreams.

Ultimately, what I learned, is that I am only responsible for me. I can only change me, and in changing me, that not only makes the world a better place, but it leads me to what I want in life, as well as my ultimate happiness. When you stop reacting to life, and start acting on life in a rational way, you will achieve what you really want.

To get you back on track, Dr. Peete employs a three pronged approach. First, you learn the technique of regrouping. This helps you determine when you are most stressed and then helps you decide what you will do during these times to reduce, and ultimately, eliminate negative stress.

Next, you learn how to use nutrition and eat not only the right things but at the right times. By avoiding late night eating and also by eating more frequently, you get your appetite under control and stop eating purely because you’re stressed.

Finally, you learn the easiest and most important component of all: exercise. If ever there were a magic pill to solve your stress fat, as well as help you feel better, look better, and get rid of fat for good, then this is it. It’s really that simple. Dr. Peete shows you how to do it right. You get the most return for your effort from your exercise, and you get fit, and get rid of fat for good.

Stop feeling like you are going crazy. That’s exactly how I felt, and this book was a lifesaver. If you’re ready to get fit, get rid of the fat, and look and feel younger, this book is definitely for you.

A surefire way to debunk atheism?

It’s hard not to laugh when you read some of the things that atheists say. Nothing created something. Doesn’t that violate one of the laws of thermodynamics or something? LOL

Anyway, I encourage you to read this article. It’s really quite funny. It also makes you feel sad for atheists because it really makes them look stupid!

I’m always amazed at how irrelevant most of what we learn in school really is. Schools don’t teach things like economics, things could help all of us avoid the kind of financial disasters so many are currently facing because of mistakes they made because of ignorance or bad choices.

When I first came across this book in the library, I almost didn’t get it. There are so many liberal books on economics and money management that are light on facts and lack techniques for actually helping you solve your financial problems.

This book definitely turned out to be different, and I’m so glad I read it. It was definitely an eye opener.

What this book does, from a Biblical perspective, is explain, in depth, the current financial situation the the United States and what you can do to protect yourself.

What I really liked about this book is that it’s written in plain English. Bates makes it very easy to understand exactly what is happening within the American economy, as well as how the government is contributing to the problem. He shows what we should actually be doing to correct the problems.

What I didn’t like about it is that he doesn’t really give you any kind of plan for how to deal with the situation. He does offer a list of things you can do to protect yourself, but there’s really no explanation here.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read this book though. This book is very relevant to what is actually happening today and is an excellent primer for educating yourself on economics.

Lest you think that it’s too “Christian,” or too religious to possibly provide the real facts and figures behind what’s really happening, the author, Dr. Larry Bates, really doesn’t spend a lot of time exploring the issues from a Christian perspective.

Although Bates is a Christian, he was also a  state legislator from Tennessee, as well as a banker. His background makes him uniquely qualified to write on the topic, and because he really understands the issues, he does a really good job of explaining the issues in a way that anyone can understand.

Regardless of your religious persuasion, or lack of one, this is definitely a book that you will want to read. It will help you more clearly understand what is really happening in the American economy and how you can protect yourself. Not to be missed.

So what is your greatest fear in life? What do you feel you are missing?

I can honestly say that my greatest fear was of being homeless. I know what it’s like to be homeless, and it’s an awful situation to be in.

It’s also the reason why so many Christians are failing in life, and they fail at a rate that is the same or higher as non believers (Divorce, finances, disease, etc).

I didn’t just read this book. I looked at the steps and started taking the steps that I wasn’t taking already.

Now I am seeing growth in every area of my life: financial, physical, spiritual, and mental. Things that used to bother me don’t bother me anymore. My bills are getting paid, I have extra money to spend, and for the first time in a long time, I’m enjoying my life, and it just keeps getting better and better. Life is just so good, and I believe that I will fulfill my God given destiny. A destiny that is even more incredible than I can ever imagine.

Now understand that this is the result of reading the Bible and following Jesus Christ. If you want the type of life Jesus was talking about though, one of abundance, happiness, and just pure unadulterated joy, thenr read this book. Follow what it says. It will change your life, and it will blow you away at how wonderful your life really is. You’ll achieve abundance and prosperity in EVERY area of your life.

There are a lot of great books out there that will teach you how to live a satisfying Christian life. This book will take you to the next level and beyond. A must read and one of the top 15 most influential books I have ever studied and read. You definitely do not want to miss this book.

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read on spiritual growth. It has certainly helped me to understand more clearly what I need to do to live a successful life, the life God has in mind for me. This book is a clear action plan on how to live the successful life.

This book isn’t to be missed. If your life isn’t what you want to be, then you definitely need to read this book. Employ the principles, and it will change your life in ways you can’t even imagine.

Because he seems like such a happy positive person, it’s hard to believe that Joel Osteen has ever had any problems. It’s also hard to believe that he would understand what it’s like to come from the bottom and overcome some of the worst problems a person could have but he does.

1. Keep pressing forward (This means to never quit)
2. Be positive toward yourself
3. Develop better relationships
4. Form better habits
5. Embrace the place where you are
6. Develop your inner life
7. Stay passionate about life

One of the things I liked best about this book is that at the end of each section he offers a set of action points. These action points cover the main points of the entire section. I found that studying these every day helped me make a lot of progress much more quickly than if I hadn’t.

Another thing I liked about this book is that it has 31 chapters. This makes it a good choice to also use as a daily reading to help you further study the material. I’ve read the book several times this way, and it made it much easier to apply the information. There’s just so much good stuff in this book that will help you. You can’t read it just one time. It’s a book you will want to read over and over.

Two things I was absolutely sure of after I read this book is this: First, God really loves me. He loves all of us, and He really wants to bless us. This means that all of the hell fire and brimstone taught in church is an injustice done to those of us who truly believe. God wants to connect with us, not hurt us.

The second thing is that Joel Osteen truly understands people, and he is committed to helping others achieve the life God has in store for us. I didn’t find his teaching to be shallow at all, and it’s definitely not the “I’m good, you’re good, God is good” type of teaching he has been accused of.

The teaching in this book is completely biblical, and even better, it will change your life. If you want a life that’s even better than you can imagine, you definitely want this book.

Problem, Promise, Provision

It’s a simple three step process that most people don’t know about. After all, none of us want to have to deal with problems. At the heart of everything I think we all just want to be happy.

Hagee also shows you how to determine if there is any sin that may be holding you back in your life. (Sin is something we don’t like to hear about these days, but it’s a very real issue, and it’s one we need to confront.)

You’ll also discover six signposts that will guide you through your problem. The key here is to dig your heels in and go through the problem. (Hagee taught me that complaining and whining about a problem only prolongs your time in it.)

According to Hagee, the quickest way through a problem is straight through, and you’ll learn how to do exactly that.

There’s really so much I could say about this book. I know that what I learned is helping me to develop a level of spiritual maturity I didn’t have before. Because if it, I’m doing a better job of facing my problems and solving them. The best part is the joy and peace I received, and you will too when do learn how to successfully solve your problems.

If you want to conquer your problems, triumph in your life and overcome any obstacles that are holding you back from living the life you want, read this book.
