I love Christmas lights, and some of the displays that you see are simply outrageous, but they can be very beautiful.
The soundtrack for this one is set toWizards in Winter, and it is played by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. (This is just about as good as Mannheim Steamroller.)
I’m tired of writing about politics. It is the Christmas season even if it doesn’t feel like it.
Stryper is an 80s Christian rock band. They were similar in their style to the “glam” rock bands or hair bands like Poison, Def Leppard, and sometimes even Van Halen.
Their music was very different in that all of their themes were Christian. It’s one of the reasons I love them. Of course, the other reason I love them is that they just plain rock!
I wish I had a nickel for every time we sang it in church. It’s a cliche, but I would be rich and traveling the globe.
I once read that in order to strengthen our Christian walk, we needed to immerse ourselves in the old music of the church. Well, if being a fan of Amazing Grace and and listening to the old music is a condition of going to Heaven (it is not), then I guess I would get a straight ticket to hell.
As I grow in my Christian faith, most of the time I feel like jumping for joy. I feel like King David did when he danced through the streets of Jerusalem. (2 Samual 6, 1l 6, 1 English: King James Version (1611) - KJV 6
1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
Don’t get me wrong: if you like the old hymns, and you like traditional Christian music, there’s no sin in it. There’s also no sin in loving modern music that communicates the awesomeness of God. I prefer the modern music, and I prefer to wear blue jeans to church. There’s nothing in the Bible about it being a fashion show. The people came in what they had. God is bigger than that, and He looks at the condition of the heart (John 7:24John 7:24 English: King James Version (1611) - KJV 24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Anyway, what I want to share with you is the promise Jesus made us when we became saved:
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27John 14:27 English: King James Version (1611) - KJV 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
It’s time to rock the world, and it’s time to rock the church. Praise isn’t about being a poor old sinner; as Christians we are past that. Praise is about recognizing we were once sinners. Now that we know Christ, we are new creations.
