Readers fed up with ‘Bible morons’

I am one of those who is fed up with Bible morons. These are people who simply make up as they go, apply the Old Testament to Christianity, and twist Bible teachings to suit their own purposes.

Here are some examples I would like to point out:

1. There is a precedent in the Bible for “gay marriage.” If you read the Bible from start to finish, you will not find one example of a “gay marriage.”

Marriage is between a man and woman. It is the earthly representation of the covenant between Jesus Christ and the church. That’s why “gay marriage” isn’t possible.

Although many who claim that homosexuality is acceptable, they cite the Old Testament. As Christians, we follow the New Testament.

Jesus doesn’t mention homosexuality because He knew that the Israelites already knew the law. It wasn’t necessary for Him to repeat it. Many forget that Jesus wasn’t a Christian; He was a Jew. He only came to preach the message to Jews, not Gentiles.

It is Paul who taught the message of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles. Although Paul started out as a Jew, he became a Christian when he accepted Jesus as his savior.

Paul was clear in his teachings to Gentiles that homosexuality was an abomination. He had to teach this message to Gentiles because their standard for sexual purity was very different.

2. If you want to go to heaven, all you have to do is follow the 10 commandments.

A Catholic told me that one. Now I know that plenty of Catholics know better.

The essential teaching of Christianity is in:

John 3:16John 3:16
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 14:6John 14:6
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God sent Jesus to save us, and Jesus is the only way into heaven. Other religions and other teachings just won’t cut it. Either you accept Jesus as your savior and you go to heaven, or you reject Him and go to hell.

Jesus won’t condemn you. Christians won’t condemn you. You will only condemn yourself. It’s your choice.

I don’t condemn others. They condemn themselves, and if anything I say makes you feel uncomfortable, then maybe you need to take a look at yourself. I realize that when I point the finger at others, I have three pointing back at me.

I make it a habit to examine my life. I read my Bible daily, and I try to be as Christlike as I can in spite of being human.

3. You can be a Christian and believe in evolution. Like liberalism and Christianity, which are two opposing ideologies, evolution and Christianity are two opposing ideologies.

One of the best books I’ve ever read on Christianity is “What’s So Great About Christianity” by Dinesh D’Sousa.

What’s So Great about Christianity
Price: USD 10.19

57 used & new available from USD 8.34

He explains so many things about Christianity and clears up a lot of the lies that atheists claim about Christianity.

What he gets wrong is the issue of evolution. He claims he is an evolutionist, but if you read what he writes in the book about evolution, you find he’s not talking about evolution at all. He’s talking about adaptation.

Adaptation is where something changes to adapt to the environment. A good example is skin color. Skin color is based on where you live. Those from the African continent needed more melanin in their skin to survive. Those in Europe did not.

This is very possible and violates no scientific law.

My advice is to take the time to study this issue and find out the truth.

4. Life is about suffering. You don’t receive any reward until you get to heaven.

I learned this one from studying Catholicism. Have you noticed that in countries where Catholicism is the dominant faith, they’re poor? Mexico, South America, many countries in Africa. The only exception is France.

Life is not about suffering. Life is about having a relationship with Jesus Christ. That’s our first calling.

Jesus told us that He came so we might have life abundantly. (John 10:10John 10:10
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

When God made Adam and Eve, He didn’t create a horrible place where they had to suffer. He created a beautiful garden for them. He walked with them in the cool of the day. (Genesis 2 and 3)

God created a beautiful life for us. Suffering now is part of life because it is the result of sin.

After I was saved, and I finally rejected the “Poor old sinner” teaching did my life start to change. I let go of my past, my grievances, my resentment, and I started to chase God in earnest.

It made my life so much better. Now I am open to His plan for me. His plan is better than anything I can possibly imagine.

Live the abundant life. Be all Christ has called you to do. Find out what the Bible really says, and find the peace, love and joy that Christianity offers. It will change your life too.

Verse of the Day

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3, ESV)
