Obama vs. Palin on value of babies
I saw a bumper sticker the other day, and it said something to the effect, “Pro choice and Catholic. Pick one”
I have to question anyone who claims to be a Christian and then claims to be pro choice. These people should be forced to take a class in biology. In the thousands of years of recorded history not once has a human baby ever been born anything else.
Children are a blessing from God, and if you read the story of Sarah (Isaac’s mother), and Hannah (Samuel’s mother), then you know the grief these women went through for being barren.
Although the Bible really doesn’t have a lot to say about abortion per se, there’s plenty there on how much God loves us. So much so that we are the only creatures in the universe that He made in his own image.
Christians often cite Psalms 139 as a defense against abortion. This is a Psalm written by King David. King David recognized that God knew who we were before we were born. Since God knows who we are before we are born, and we are made in His image, doesn’t this make us human?
The difference between Obama and Governor Palin are startling. Obama is against providing any type of care of babies who are aborted and live. He voted against giving care to these infants when he was a part of the Illinois State Legislature. He is in favor of partial birth abortion.
For those of you who don’t know what partial birth abortion is, let me explain. The baby is delivered feet first. The doctor takes an instrument and opens the skull of the baby and sucks out the brain. The baby is given no anesthesia and suffers a cruel death.
This is not a blob of tissue delivered into the birth canal. This is a fully formed human being, and if this isn’t murder, please explain to me what is. The hypocrisy of liberals is that they find murdering the unborn acceptable, they find euthanasia acceptable, but you question them on the death penalty, and it’s murder to them. It’s OK to execute the innocent, but it’s not OK to execute the guilty?
Palin on the other hand is a different brand. She doesn’t just say the words. She lives them. Her youngest child is a Downs Syndrome baby. Currently 90 percent of Downs Syndrome babies are killed in abortion clinics. Palin chose to have her child because she is pro life. She also chose not to question God’s will in this, and accepts this child as a blessing from God.
Palin’s oldest daughter is now five months pregnant. Palin and her family have embraced their daughter, and they are supporting her in her decision to have this baby. This doesn’t mean that the family is condoning her decision to have premarital sex. They are supporting her because they believe she is making the right decision not to penalize her child for what she did.
There are two parts to Christianity: First, we accept Christ as our Savior. The second part is to live according to what the Bible teaches us. Sarah Palin isn’t a perfect Christian. None of us are. She is, however, choosing to live her beliefs, and she is to be congratulated for that.
