I am in the process of starting over. My daughters are grown now, and I have grandkids. It is a little scary because, for a long time, my whole life revolved around my kids. Now that they are grown, I can go off and pursue my life with wild abandon.

That means that I get to pursue my passion, which is writing. It also means that I get to pursue my purpose, which is interrupting the dysfunction that has ruled our family for a long.

In and of myself, I certainly couldn’t do this by myself. It’s not a job for one person. But, 1 + God = A Majority.

With that in mind, there is really not anything I cannot do if I put my mind too it. That’s the part that’s really exciting.

With all of this comes a lot of problems though. Sometimes my problems seem overwhelming. It seems I will never get the things I really want out of life.

One of the biggest mistakes a lot of people make is to pray without doing anything. I used to do that. God cannot do his part if you don’t do yours. That means if there’s something you can do to change your situation, you need to do it.

If you’re one of these people that’s waiting on a politician or someone else to come along and change your life, you will be waiting a long time. God holds us accountable for our own lives. That’s why it’s crucial that you do your part before you ask God to do his. Also, you need to have the right attitude and believe for the right things.

This is another mistake many of us make. We have the wrong attitude, or we want the wrong things, or we want things simply for our own pleasure and not because it’s good for us (see the books of James.)

What I have learned is that by reading my Bible every day I am able to learn what God’s will is, and I am able to learn what God’s will is for my life. When my heart and hands are empty, and I’ve done all I can, then all I have to do is wait on him. I usually don’t have to wait very long either. God is always on time.

A lot of people never find the peace, joy, and happiness that Christianity offers us because they never even bother to try. It’s really to bad, and I feel bad for them. The Bible tells us that if we seek God, we will find him, and we will find the real God, not something made up by the churches, or something similar to the boogeyman (that’s the kind of God my parents offered me.)

Peace, joy, and happines are easily within your reach if it’s what you really want. All you have to do is do as the Bible says, and “go boldly before the throne.” As a Christian, you have that right. Throw yourself on God’s love and mercy, and tell him what you need. It really is that simple, and I know it works because it worked for me.

Verse of the Day

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3, ESV)
